This session will examine the foundational math skills that students often need to strengthen in order to make measurable gains on CASAS and TABE math assessments. Participants will review common skill gaps related to number sense, operations with whole numbers and fractions, ratios, measurement, and interpreting quantitative information—competencies that directly influence performance on standardized items and industry-specific tasks. The session will also highlight practical, evidence-based instructional strategies that build students’ confidence and accuracy, preparing them to tackle multi-step problem solving and apply math effectively in both assessment and workplace contexts.
